Big Brown is a retired Champion American Thoroughbred racehorse and winner of the 2008 Kentucky Derby and 2008 Preakness Stakes. On May 3, 2008, in his fourth race, the 2008 Kentucky Derby, Big Brown was the 2–1 favorite. He became the first horse since 1929 to win the race from the 20th gate, winning by 4 ¾ lengths over filly Eight Belles. Kent Desormeaux won his third Kentucky Derby aboard Big Brown.
